About Saint Maartens Clinic
Sint Maartenskliniek is a leading hospital and the only one in the Netherlands specializing in posture and movement. The website focuses primarily on patients, but also provides referrers and health insurance companies with information.
Challenge
The Sint Maartenskliniek's website was not found well organically, despite its strong content. The hospital counted on improvement with a new website. Unfortunately, after the website migration, it turned out that insufficient attention had been paid to SEO. This resulted in a 40% loss in organic traffic. This was the time for the Sint Maartenskliniek to engage Tomahawk.
Approach
The first step was to reduce the loss in traffic as quickly as possible. To do this, we implemented a 301 scheme with redirects from the old URLs to the new ones. We then rolled out a customized strategy to grow SEO traffic using content optimization and link structure.
The content optimization started with a keyword research. Here cooperation with the Sint Maartenskliniek was essential because of the specialized content. With their help, we were able to identify the most important search terms related to all kinds of disorders. Based on this keyword research, missing and incomplete content was identified. We then provided the internal content specialists at the Sint Maartenskliniek with extensive instruction so that they could write and post the necessary SEO-friendly content themselves.
The suboptimal link structure was taken in hand to make the most important pages logically accessible to visitors and search engines. Finally, we developed a strategy for maintaining and obtaining new external links in a natural way.
Result
- 3 months after the migration, the loss of organic traffic was reduced from 40% to 20%.
- 9 months after migration, the loss of organic traffic had been rectified
- Organic traffic had more than doubled (x 2.3) after the SEO optimizations.
- More than 70 top 5 organic positions on important and high-traffic keywords.
- Increased SEO knowledge level within St. Maartens Clinic.
